Ceratrain for France’s largest freezer

Ceratrain for France’s largest freezer

In Harnes (near Lille, F), Kloosterboer has built a cold storage warehouse for McCain France. Kloosterboer advised Ceratec on industrial electrical work and the transport of finished products from the production site to the cold storage warehouse, 160 meters away. Ceratec solved this problem with a fully automatic Ceratrain, which runs day and night, replacing 3 trucks and 3 drivers per shift. The Ceratrain runs at 2.5 meters per second on rails equipped with 2-directional axles, and moves 80 pallets per hour, equivalent to 900 tons per day.

The benefits of Ceratrain

  • Rides outdoors and works perfectly in winter conditions.
  • Is fully insulated
  • With front and rear quick-release fasteners
  • Power supply via cable reel
  • Return transport available
  • Rolling day and night
  • Fully automatic operation

An important detail: to travel from the production site to the cold-storage warehouse, the Ceratrain has to cope with three bends and one incline.

On the electrical side, we were responsible for the engineering and installation of

  • High and low voltage
  • Complete building wiring
  • Data wiring
  • Interior and exterior lighting
