Ceratec’s Electrical Installations division recently completed the delivery of critical electrotechnical infrastructure for the Molo7 project located in the port of Trieste. This project focuses on the deployment of two robotic barges designed to automate the cleaning of port quays, requiring a robust power supply system capable of withstanding a marine environment.

Technical Specifications and Scope of Supply

The engineering team at Ceratec designed a solution addressing the specific constraints of port logistics and maritime exposure. The core of the installation involves a modified marine container transformed into a mobile high-voltage substation.

Key technical components include:

  • HV/LV Transformation: The container is equipped with a specific 3kV transformer to step down high voltage for the operational needs of the barges.

  • Integrated Control Panels: Custom-designed electrical plates and automation controls were integrated directly within the containerized unit to ensure protection against salinity and humidity.

  • Submarine Power Transmission: Connection to the mobile units is achieved through a 400-meter submarine cable. This specific cabling ensures continuous power delivery to the robotic units while allowing the necessary range of motion for cleaning operations along the quay.

Industrial Application

This project demonstrates Ceratec’s capacity to deliver custom-made electrotechnical solutions for complex industrial sectors, including maritime and port infrastructure. By combining high-voltage engineering with robust mechanical integration, the system ensures reliability in harsh operational conditions.
