Centralisation of clay storage
Vandersanden NV has 2 production units at its headquarters in Spouwen.
Ceratec was responsible for centralising the company’s clay storage. We did this with the help of 11 boxes, each 10 m high, 10 m wide and 45 m long, which are filled from 2 bridges. Both clay supplied by trucks and prepared clay are deposited in these storage boxes.
- Trucks unload their clay into large reception bunkers, which then transport the clay to the storage facility.
- The central clay preparation plant processes the clay to make sure it’s in perfect condition before it is stored. The clay preparation plant is equipped with a Händle HMi2170c grinding mill and Händle WF10120e rolling mill.
- Product flow is controlled via a central computer, which communicates with the ERP system.
- A loading shovel removes raw materials from the boxes and supplies them to the central clay preparation facility as well as the 2 production lines.
This project is part of a complete reorganisation of logistics in and around the factory in Spouwen, which has addressed both the flow and storage of raw materials along with finished products.
Using the new equipment, Vandersanden is able to use its innovative business philosophy to create new products.
